pray pray. gotta pray for them.
:icondepleted:
and of all the murdered children of the Chechen people under the unwelcome heel of 70 000 Russian troops, of whom the world has already forgotten about until this latest monstrous act, who will pray for them?

"their own people killed them too...

red herring.

if some people in Ingushetia kill some other people there this in no way absolves the Russians of any of their atrocities there. how many children died in crossfire from Russian bullets? does this excuse the hostagetakers?

of course not!same with Russians.

"...you cant just blame russians..."

for Russian atrocities-yes you can. that is, in fact, where the blame properly lies.

"...for there are just bad bad people out there, these we call terrorists, and they dont really care either its their or our kids dying..."

this is about as simplistic a stereotype as can be mustered. first of all "terrorist" is a relative term revealing far more about the labelers biases than those being tagged with the label. as is "bad".

i'm sure you've heard the saying "one man's terrorist is another mans freedomfighter"? well it's true. the Fins roasted Russians alive in their tanks with gasoline when they were invaded. was this terror or struggle against an oppressor?

and this:"...and they dont really care either its their or our kids dying..." is rather despicable in it's dehumanization. do you honestly believe they don't care when their children die?

did you ever wonder why so many Chechen fighters were women dressed in black. it is because they are widows who lost their families to the Russians and feel they have nothing left on earth to live for. i would like to see you tell them they don't care about their kids dying.

and please consider this:

who has killed far more of whose children? who has laid waste to whose cities and shelled and bombed out whose mass populations?

where are their state funerals and international condemnation at their savage, brutal, deaths? where are there memorials and tributes?

"what kind of people could hurt innocent children" you ask. ask your own people whom have been responsible for numerous murders and atrocities at home and around the world.

and then consider that your 911 was but a pimple to the invasions, repression, and expulsions the Chechens have endured, and continue to endure, at the hands of the Russians for the last 100+ years.

Do you know how the Chechen capital came to be named Grozny?

do you know about the ransoming of bodies? the rapes? what do you know about these people you judge so harshly? that a small number are capable of terrible violence? well so are the Russians. and so are you. and so am i.

and this is not to vilify Russians, nor diminish their own suffering, nor justify atrocities for any side.

but those who wring their hands and shout "monsters" are doing nothing. and they had best not look too closely at themselves. some of the monsters pass as invisibly as their victims.

i am russian, and i know alot about checnya, i remember how they bombed their own cities and killed innocent people as these people were trying to run away, to russia, anywhere they could cause their own men were killing them, and i know why they want 'freedom' and i know why they dont want peace and try to break it now when things just seemed to get abit better for usual people, and im not saying russians act all good and well and dont do shit, but we didnt start that war, we dont want it, and we didnt take their kids hostage, ever

I respect your right to have an opinion. I also respect my right to tell you that you're wrong.

No matter who does it, that doesn't make it right. Children getting caught in the line of fire? That's not right.

Deliberately holding 1200 people hostage (most of them children)... That's not right either.
This is not an eye for an eye, these are children! Soldiers fight. Not children.

Neither way is right... but one is deliberate.

As is the case in Chechnya, the vast majority of the population supports their current presidential regime. These 'terrrorists' come from pockets of the country. 10 of the 27 terrorists killed were not even Chechan (they were arabic). No matter how it is spun, there is no justification.

We aren't supporting war-like actions against Chechan rebels, nor do we support the idea of this minority Chechan pocket that seeks secession from Russia. The whole point of the strip was a remembrance of the children. Not a political statement of support for political affiliations. That being said, can you really justify the actions of those terrorists? Freedom fighters fight for freedom against invasion and oppression. They don't launch stealth hostage strikes against women and children in a scenario that obviously can't be won. Freedom fighters don't blow up planes full of innocent and unsuspecting people. Freedom Fighters don't blow up buildings filled with thousands of people, children, innocents, that have no idea what is about to happen. They do not enter noncombatant zones such as schools and wage war against children! This is not warfare, this is not guerrilla warfare, this is cowardice and this is flat out terrorism and for it there is zero justification.

I'm sorry that you missed the point of the strip.
